Republicans: Lay off Sotomayor on same-sex groups!
Some unnamed Republican politicians are lambasting President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, in the media for her belonging to an all-female social organization called the Belizean Grove. Undoubtedly, some of these same Republicans defended past Republican nominees for belonging to all-male social organizations such as the Bohemian Club, whose membership is made up of male movers and shakers in America.
As "The Washington Times" reported yesterday, the New York-based Belizean Grove club "finds itself caught up in Supreme Court confirmation politics, with Republican lawmakers raising questions about the group's most famous member. Federal appeals court Judge Sonia Sotomayor joined the group a year ago and went on her first trip last year to Peru. Her membership went largely unnoticed until she listed it on a Senate questionnaire in preparation for her July 13 confirmation hearings."... (Read More)

Democrat leaders' disrespect for U.S. military
Just what is it in the DNA of many of the leaders of the Democrat Party which cause them to have such a distain for the United States military and for us combat war veterans?
The most recent example of this was yesterday during a hearing being conducted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, left-wing Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat from California. She had testifying before her committee, Brigadier General Michael Walsh, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
General Walsh began his answer to one of Barbara Boxer's questions by saying: "Ma'am." She immediately cut him off saying: "You know, do me a favor. Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?' It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you."... (Read More)
Obama changes federal regulations on gay benefits
This week, Obama announced that he is changing government regulations to begin extending federal benefits to the partners of gay federal employees - which will essentially treats them like married couples. According to the details, gay and lesbian partners of federal employees will be given access to health care benefits, financial benefits and relocation fees. And of course this comes after Obama declared June to be "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month".
Obama's actions come after he received letters from prominent gay-rights groups, complaining that he had not done enough for them.
Then there was the decision this week by the Washington DC Board of Elections to reject the request of a coalition of black ministers to allow voters in the nation's capital to vote on overturning the City Council's recent decision to begin giving official recognition to gay marriages performed in other states. They claimed the vote could lead to "discrimination".
This comes the same week that a new CBS News poll found that support for gay marriage has dropped by nine points in the last two months to only 33%.
Clearly the majority of the American people are opposed to gay marriage. But the politicians in Washington have to hear from you.

Sotomayor's problems on gun rights and abortion
It seems that the more information that becomes public on Sonia Sotomayor, the more cause for concern Americans would seem to have about the possibility of her sitting on the highest court in the land for a lifetime appointment.
During the past few weeks, she's made the rounds in the Senate, paying courtesy calls to various senators so they can "get to know her". Of course, this is part of the usual PR plan for pretty much every Supreme Court nominee, regardless of party. But as she's made these visits, she appears to be raising some eyebrows on some pretty important issues.
When it comes to gun rights, she seems to have some hostility to the Second Amendment, or at least the way in which the vast majority of Americans interpret it.... (Read More)

Ronald Reagan, Christina Popa, and religious freedom
"To those who would crush religious freedom, our message is plain: you may jail your believers. You may close their churches, confiscate their Bibles, and harass their rabbis and priests, but you will never destroy the love of God and freedom that burns in their hearts. They will triumph over you." These remarks were in President Ronald Reagan's speech to the National Religious Broadcasters on January 31, 1981, during his second week in office as president and a couple months before he was almost assassinated.
Undoubtedly, President Reagan was mostly speaking to the communist dictatorships in the world at the height of the Cold War. However, if he was president this year, he could well be speaking to Canada and Sweden, etc. which have thrown pastors in jail for preaching the Bible from their pulpits on politically-incorrect topics...
